If you have been to the suburbs in the USA, you have probably seen a "Garage sale" sign. It could be written on a cardboard or a piece of plastic. You might find the time and the place of the event on the sign as well. Garage sales are also conducted in the cities, but suburbs are more common.

A Garage Sale is an informal event organized by regular residents of the area in order to get rid of the things they no longer want or need. Some of them want to raise funds or minimize the number of their possessions. It is called a GARAGE SALE, as it is usually held in a garage. However, it can be organized at a driveway, yard, or even inside the house. Most of the things for sale are in a used condition, however, they can still be used. You can find used books, home appliances, clothes, shoes, kitchen utensils, furniture, to name a few.

The good thing about garage sales is that you don't need to pay sales tax and you can bargain. If you want a lower price, you can always ask a seller for one. You can find very rare items and some of them might be absolutely unused.

As the spring cleaning is coming, look out for the GARAGE SALE signs and be ready to experience the treasure hunt!
