You have probably heard the phrase "Don't give up" many times in the USA. Americans like using it to cheer someone up or to encourage a person. You can also say EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING.
"Every cloud has a silver lining" means that you should never feel hopeless in a difficult situation because the days with dark clouds will pass and the bright day will come. It will happen in your life the same way it happens with the weather. The weather will improve and so will your difficult situation.
"Silver lining" is the hopeful side of the situation, which seems dark and gloomy outside.
Here's an example of how to use this idiom:
I wanted to see the match so much, but heavy rain started and I stayed home. Every cloud has a silver lining. I watched a very interesting movie on TV with my kids. We had so much fun together!
